Shannon Smith, M.A.
Ms. Smith attended Illinois Benedictine College and received a Bachelor of Art degree in Special Education in 1995. Following graduation, she accepted a position in New Lenox, Illinois as an elementary special education resource teacher.
In that role, she primarily worked with students with learning disabilities, behavior disorders, and with students with pervasive developmental disorders, including Asperger Syndrome and Autism. In addition, she tutored students with and without special needs. During her tenure in the New Lenox School District, she attended Governor State University and received her Master of Art degree in Multi-Categorical Special Education in 2002.
In 2004, she began a position in New Lenox as a behavior and learning consultant. In that role, she worked with regular and special education students in grades preschool through eighth grade. In 2006, she left her position in the New Lenox School District to raise her five small children. She is a member of the National Tutoring Association.
